Human Resources

I joined the practice in 1985 when the Practice was known as Boyde Oliver & Ball (since retired veterinary partners) as a Trainee Veterinary Nurse. I enjoyed all aspects of the busy mixed animal practice as it was then, and developed a keen interest in small animal, farm and equine surgery. After qualifying as a Registered Animal Nurse Auxiliary (RANA) with Boyde Oliver & Ball I pursued my keen interest in surgery and moved to a rural mixed practice in Cranleigh Surrey called Berry & Harrison where daily visits to examine large cattle herds and equine stables extended my learning and experience. As Head Nurse I began to develop what has now become a change of direction in my veterinary career. Working in a busy practice during the IT boom of the late 90’s enabled me to see and work at a practice as it transitioned from old ‘paper’ record keeping and manual accounts into the now familiar computerised management systems seen in most if not all veterinary practices today. I had now found my niche and a career in Business Management began with my return to Boyde & Partners in the early 2000 when I oversaw the introduction of all things IT in the Practice at this time. Managing the ever expanding Client Care Team and seeing the practice expand into the 8 centre practice we are now. This has seen me work across many business areas of the practice including nursing, training, recruitment, office & business accounts and human resources. Willett House as we are now known has allowed me to build a career that still many years later enthuses and inspires me to learn more, to share and help new staff members with many years of practice experience to recall on. Other: I have always lived locally and I am settled in Ashford with my family, and an odd assortment of pets, to name but a few I have tortoises Ant & Dec and, two cats Luna and Stella – Luna being a kitten I reared from 3 days old. My outside work life is busy juggling my family and my role as a Group Lead Volunteer for a local Scout Group called 8th Ashford Scouts where I have volunteered for 22 years.
