Veterinary Surgeon

Matt is an Advanced Practitioner in Small Animal Surgery and holds a postgraduate certificate in the field. He also completed a PhD in orthopaedic implant materials at the University of Cambridge, where he taught anatomy and surgery. He has previously worked in orthopaedic referral practice and now accepts surgical referrals at Swayne and Partners. Outside of work, Matt enjoys keeping active, travelling, and spending time with his family.

By law, pets receiving prescription medication must be seen by a vet at least every six months for a check-up and review. Some pets with more serious conditions may benefit from reviews more frequently. If your pet has not had a review within this time, we may ask you and your pet to come in for an appointment before we can dispense further medication.

For prescription flea, tick & worm treatment, your pet only needs to be seen by a vet every twelve months. However, a recent change in the law means that this treatment must be specifically authorised by a vet on your pet's medical record at the time they see your pet. If you have not discussed flea, tick & worm treatment recently with a vet, your pet may need to come in for an additional check-up and review.
