For any emergencies outside of normal hours, our clients are supported by the Bury St Edmunds hospital, where our dedicated out-of-hours team provides expert care 24/7. Meet Our Team

Tom Berry BSc (Hons) BVetMed MRCVS

Clinical Director & Veterinary Surgeon

Tom is a Clinical Director and Veterinary Surgeon who joined the Swayne & Partners team in Long Melford in June 2024. He originally completed a Biology degree at Durham University and worked for the BBC researching science documentaries before qualifying from the Royal Veterinary College in 2010. Tom brings a wealth of experience in general practice, with particular interests in soft tissue surgery, dentistry and dermatology. He’s thoroughly enjoying working with our fantastic team and getting to know the Long Melford community.

Joy Fortis RVN A1

Head Veterinary Nurse

Joy has worked for Swayne & Partners since 2000, becoming Head Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in 2007. She loves all aspects of her role, especially building lifelong relationships with her patients. Joy has a particular interest in anaesthesia and pain management, and has supported many nurses in achieving their RVN qualification over the years. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, dogs, and horses.

Florentine Atkins MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Florentine has been part of the Swayne & Partners team since 2003. She finds it especially rewarding to care for patients throughout their lives, building lasting relationships and making a meaningful difference to both pets and their owners. Florentine shares her days with her Border Terrier, Betty, who enjoys coming to work with her. Although she’s a cat lover too, life with a terrier means feline companions are off the cards – for now!

Ellis Fenwick BVetMed MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Ellis graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in 2022 and enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, with a particular passion for dental health. She values building strong relationships with clients and appreciates the welcoming, family feel of the Swayne & Partners team. Outside of work, Ellis enjoys swimming, hiking with her dog Teddy, and relaxing with a good coffee.

Susannah White MA VetMB CertAVP PGCert MRCVS

Veterinary Surgeon

Veterinary Surgeon Sue graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2017 and joined Swayne & Partners the same year. She has since completed a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice, focusing on surgery, and has developed a particular interest in exotic pets. Outside of work, Sue enjoys gardening, knitting, and beekeeping.

Tracy Boggis RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Tracy has been a Veterinary Nurse for over 35 years, with the past 17 spent as a valued member of the team at Swayne & Partners. She enjoys the variety the role brings and loves walking her dachshund, Dave, and spending quality time with her children outside of work.

Victoria Hart RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Victoria qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) in 2015. She has worked in both general practice and a referral hospital, where she gained extensive experience, particularly in oncology. Since returning to general practice, Victoria has developed a strong passion for medical nursing, focusing on delivering the highest standard of care to every patient. Outside of the clinic, she enjoys long countryside walks with her husband, two children, and their dog.

Melissa Nunn RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Mel joined our team in 2013 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2017. She is passionate about all aspects of veterinary nursing, with a particular focus on inpatient care. Mel also enjoys running nursing clinics for geriatric patients and values the continuity of care that comes with seeing familiar faces regularly.

Connie Payne RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Connie joined Swayne & Partners as a degree student in 2016 and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2019. She enjoys the variety her role offers, from monitoring anaesthetics to providing care for inpatients on the wards. Connie is passionate about building lasting relationships with both patients and their owners, and values the continuity of care that working in general practice brings. She has a soft spot for all animals – but especially for a staffie!

Sarah Roach RVN

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Sarah joined the practice in 2012, where she trained and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse. A cheerful and enthusiastic team member, she enjoys every part of the nursing role – from anaesthesia to keeping things spotless. Sarah is passionate about patient care, with a particular focus on pain management and overall wellbeing. She has a soft spot for German Shepherds and rabbits.

Krystal Morris RVN CertVN ECC

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Krystal is a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) and holder of the Certificate in Veterinary Nursing Emergency and Critical Care (CertVN ECC). She recently joined Swayne & Partners, having worked in the veterinary field since she was 16. Her favourite part of being an RVN is the opportunity to really help make a difference. She loves interacting with her patients and helping to nurse them back to health.

Jane Bailey RVN BSc (Hons)

Registered Veterinary Nurse

Jane, a Registered Veterinary Nurse, has been with Swayne & Partners since 2010 and brings over 20 years of nursing experience to the team. Throughout her career, she has specialised in theatre, anaesthesia, and emergency and critical care. Jane takes pride in the outstanding level of patient care the practice provides – made possible by the dedicated team and excellent facilities.

Jodie Underwood

Patient Care Assistant

Jodie is one of our Patient Care Assistant who joined the practice in 2021 as a ward assistant. She particularly enjoys the variety of inpatients she looks after each day and takes pride in building a bond with them during their stay. At home, Jodie has a Jack Russell Terrier named Molly.

Linzi Allen

Client Support Administrator

Linzi has been part of the reception team at Swayne & Partners in Long Melford since 2022. Affectionately known as the “mother of the practice”, she’s always ready with a listening ear and a kind word for both clients and colleagues. Before joining the veterinary world, Linzi worked in the elderly care sector as an activities coordinator. Outside of work, she enjoys crafting, yoga, and scenic walks – especially when there’s a pub or tea shop along the way!

Client Support Administrator

Jo joined the Swayne & Partners team in 2023 after a 30-year career in the healthcare sector. Now part of our Client Support team, she enjoys welcoming clients and their pets. Outside of work, Jo loves horse riding and spending time with her family.

Lydia Jennings

Patient Care Assistant

Lydia joined our Long Melford team in 2017 and is the go-to person for all things insurance and finance. She has a soft spot for our golden oldies and loves sneaking cuddles with the furry patients – often with a secret stash of treats behind her desk! Lydia’s friendly presence and love of animals make her a favourite with both clients and pets.
